Heritage & Adaptive Re-use, Commercial

Progress continues on our 11 Logan Road Heritage redevelopment

11 Logan Road project update

KIRK is excited to share the latest photos from 11 Logan Road, our benchmark project in the adaptive re-use of Heritage buildings in Brisbane. This mixed-use development includes retail, hospitality and office spaces.

Built in the 1880s, 11 Logan Road is one part of a larger group of historical buildings situated at the Stanley Street end of Logan Rd, Woolloongabba.

Since our last update, we have completed a full fit-out of the hospitality and retail spaces. The rich new timber interior harmonises with the existing architecture and showcases the beauty of the original brickwork fabric.

KIRK's Brisbane team has called this building home for the last six years. We've now welcomed several new tenants, including Caribou Lighting, Detour Restaurant, Ella & Jade, and Grinders.

It has been a delight to watch the space transform over the years and see some of the original features unveiled, such as the remarkable brick archways.

A tribute to old and new

11 Logan Road is a prime example of KIRK's approach to Adaptive Reuse and Heritage redevelopment. We unveil the old while celebrating the new.

Our methodology is grounded in a deep understanding of site context and the cultural and historical significance of building elements.

As part of this project, we engaged Australian historian Don Watson to develop a detailed history of 11 Logan Road and the Woolloongabba area. This research informed many of our design choices, ensuring 11 Logan Road interweaves with the fabric of the surrounding precinct and speaks to its rich history.

We also considered the generational transformation of Woolloongabba's Heritage Precinct; spurred on further by the Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Great care has been taken to ensure the relevance of these buildings for years to come.

Work continues on Ipswich Road awning and facade, but we're excited to present progress so far on this tribute to Woolloongabba's future and history.
