Kirk was established in Brisbane, Australia in 1995 as Richard Kirk Architect. The practice has expertise in architecture, urban design and environmentally sustainable design, with studios in Brisbane, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.

Richard Kirk
Director - LFRAIA Hon. AIA
Richard Kirk is the Principal Director of KIRK, formerly Richard Kirk Architect, which he established in 1995 after graduating from the University of Queensland in 1991 with first-class Honours. Richard’s noted academic achievements (QIA Memorial Medal and the Board of Architects Award for Academic Excellence) provide an intellectual basis for the foundation and direction of the practice which now has studios located in Brisbane, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.
Richard Kirk has established the practice as a leader in designing buildings of cultural significance on sensitive and important sites, with the majority of its commissions awarded through design competitions. Recent achievements include the inaugural Queensland Medallion for the Mon Repos Turtle Centre, awarding of first prize for the design of the National WW1 and WW2 memorials in Canberra in an international design competition; first prize in design competitions for the University of Queensland’s flagship buildings the Advanced Engineering Building and UQ Business School; and most recently Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, Learning Hub North Spine.

Andrew Browning
Director Kuala Lumpur Office
Andrew Browning, manager of the Kuala Lumpur Studio of KIRK, studied Architecture at the University of Queensland. After graduating in 1994 he worked with Richard Kirk Architect in its formative years before relocating to Malaysia in 1996 to work for a development company on large integrated township master plans and anchor leisure components throughout the Asian region.
Later he worked for an Australian practice in Malaysia managing their regional representative office and then established a small design practice focusing on niche project work. In 2013 Andrew re-joined the company and established the Malaysian studio as a regional hub for KIRK.
Andrew has been involved in a wide range of diverse projects throughout South East Asia including integrated resort and township master planning, aquatic leisure facilities, commercial buildings, boutique resorts and golf course clubhouses, educational, funerary, cultural and religious projects.
Andrew is experienced in the execution and documentation of a range of project types throughout brief development, design, documentation and procurement. This experience allows Andrew to bring a familiarity and deep understanding of working in South East Asia to KIRK.
In his capacity of managing the Malaysian studio, Andrew oversees the day to day delivery of projects and provides a seamless point of contact for our local clients.

Dr. Andrew Magub
Principal - FRAIA
Dr Andrew Magub joined KIRK in 2016 in the role of Principal.
Andrew trained in architecture at the Queensland University of Technology and the University of North London and in Project Management at the Queensland University of Technology. After graduation his first degree, Andrew worked in Cleveland, USA, London, UK and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Andrew is an Architect / Project Manager with over 30 years of major project experience through work in USA, New Zealand, Malaysia, Vietnam, United Kingdom, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, China and extensively in Australia. He has worked on a large selection of project types from feasibilities, masterplans, overlays, reviews, small extensions of existing facilities, through to complete new major facilities.
Andrew has previously worked in London for the Lobb Partnership (now Populous), for Bligh Voller Nield and Bligh Lobb Sports Architecture (a Bligh Voller Nield joint venture company) and as Principal of ARTAS Architects in Australia.
Andrew has completed a Master of Project Management, Specialising in the procurement of major projects in Australia and New Zealand and a PhD in construction management investigating the use of the internet for information sharing on construction projects. These specialist area of research are unique and allows a further level of professional advice and management to clients.
