KIRK, in association with Charles Wright Architects and i4 Architecture, are excited to announce the JCU Technology Innovation Complex (TIC) will commence construction with BESIX Watpac as Head Contractor.
JCU TIC is a significant and transformative building for the JCU Townsville campus – and establishes a new benchmark for sustainability and resilient building in the tropics.
JCU TIC will achieve a LEED Gold sustainability rating – a notable target following the substantial increase in energy performance compliance required by the introduction of NCC 2019. It is the first building to achieve this in the Tropics.
KIRK have developed a bespoke, innovative facade system for the project - utilising locally manufactured glulam timber (GLT) façade technology. This high-performance facade provides enhanced thermal performance and cyclone debris impact resistance over conventional systems.
JCU TIC will be the first WELL registered building in the tropics.
KIRK are thrilled to continue this important project for the Townsville region and congratulate James Cook University on reaching this significant milestone.
